Our commitment to inclusion, diversity, and opportunity

The American Ceramic Society supports the worldwide ceramic and glass community and embraces inclusion of all people as a core value to the advancement of our discipline, our industry, and the global society in which we live and work.

The Society rejects all expressions of hatred wherever they occur and commits itself to the fair and equitable treatment of all regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other basis.

Our members’ common enthusiasm for solving grand challenges with ceramic and glass materials binds us and leaves no room for artificial boundaries. We commit to working with our members and partners to ensure that the exchange of scientific ideas and cultural exchange between scientists and engineers continues uninterrupted for the purpose of catalyzing peace, dignity, opportunity, and respect for all peoples.

ACerS recognizes and welcomes its responsibility—and opportunity—to lead positive change. We must continually challenge ourselves to create an interpersonal culture of diversity in the Society and do our best to export it throughout our sphere of influence. The Diversity and Inclusion Subcommittee of the Member Services Committee works proactively to ensure that the Society fosters a culture of inclusion across all ACerS activities and the ceramic and glass industry.
