Charmayne Lonergan is a materials scientist who focuses on glassy materials.  She has a Ph.D in Materials Science and Engineering and currently works at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL).  Her work focuses on glass formation in support of waste vitrification and understanding how light interacts with a variety of materials.  She also works as a science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) ambassador with PNNL’s Office of STEM Education, where she can engage the community and students in learning more about materials science. She enjoys working to support diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts at the lab as the chair of a DEI council and participates in various STEM outreach efforts to increase STEM literacy, particularly in underrepresented groups.
