Eileen De Guire directs the strategy and business operations for the Society’s peer-review journals, magazines, blog and podcast outreach, reference materials, and workforce development program. She earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in ceramic engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign and began her career as research ceramic engineer at the Army Materials and Mechanics Research Center in Watertown, Mass., working on materials for tank engines and missiles. She spent 17 years as a full-time parent before transitioning into the publishing and management phase of her career.
