Madoka worked for Asahi Glass Co. (AGC), the largest glass manufacturing company in Japan for nearly 20 years. She very recently moved to academia and am currently focusing onto creating new materials which accelerate quantum telecommunication. One of them is our ultra transparent silica glass.

She earned her Ph.D. in Applied Physics field at University of Tokyo, Japan. She worked for AGC CO. Ltd. for 19 years. For the last 3 years, she also worked as an Associate Professor of  Research Institute for Electronic Science at Hokkaido University as a double-assignment job. She recently moved to Tohoku University as a full professor. Her research interests are on the properties of glass especially optical and mechanical, and their controllability by the structure and topology, including their fluctuation. Those research are expected to be useful for accelerating quantum telecommunication.
