He routinely serves as a resource for the technical, manufacturing, and executive teams company-wide. Waugh was tapped by Murata Japan’s Corporate Technology Planning Department to work with the marketing team there to evaluate opportunities from both internal and external sources. This information helped drive strategic initiatives and required extensive coordination between multiple teams. His two-year tenure in Japan evolved to him becoming a lynchpin in the execution of new technology directions in the Americas. It also resulted in the development of Murata’s Core Technology Book, which is now deemed as the company’s playbook in searching out innovation and collaboration opportunities.
In his most recent role, he helms strategic marketing efforts for Murata’s healthcare strategy in the United States. This scope covers everything from technology evaluation and new business proposal creation to contract negotiations, as well as new product development, customer and partner relationship management. He is also charged with developing partnering relationships with hospitals, clinicians, universities, start-up companies, incubators, collaborators, and other related organizations.
Waugh holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Penn State University. When he’s not at Murata or dealing with Atlanta traffic, he and his wife play man-on-man defense with their twin toddler girls.
