Tony Thornton is Director of Technical Information and a Senior Technology and Applications Consultant for Micromeritics Instrument Corp., Norcross, Ga.  His responsibilities include managing Micromeritics’ internal and external knowledge bases, and providing technical and applications support for Micromeritics customers, employees, and agents.  He specializes in particle size, porosity, and pycnometry applications.  An ASTM International fellow and Award of Merit recipient, Thornton is currently the Chair of three ASTM Committees, C21 on Ceramic Whitewares and Related Products, D24 on Carbon Black, and D36 on Recovered Carbon Black.  He is a Past Chair of three ASTM Committees, B09 on Metal Powders and Metal Powder Products, C28 on Advanced Ceramics, and E29 on Particle and Spray Characterization.  He recently served on the ASTM Board of Directors, and on the ASTM Committee on Standards (COS).  He is active in ISO/TC24 on Particle Characterization including Sieving, and is a Past Chair of ISO/TC24/SC4 on Particle Characterization.
