The October/November 2020 issue of ACerS Bulletin is now available online.

In this month’s issue, we look at research and markets in Latin America. In the cover story, authors Randy Hecht and Alex Talavera explore how industry partnerships drive the focus of much academic research across Latin America, though efforts to address environmental impacts and pursue sustainability play large roles as well. In-depth market snapshots of Brazil, Chile, and Colombia are included.

Two columns go along with this issue’s international theme. “Business and Market View” by BCC Research overviews global markets for emerging materials in aerospace, including a brief look at recent patents filed this year. Then, Iva Milisavljevic at Alfred University walks readers through her experience in an international student exchange program in “Deciphering the Discipline.”

The October/November issue announces the ACerS leaders for 2020–2021. The Society will install new officers and directors on the ACerS Executive Committee and Board at the 122nd Annual Business Meeting at the beginning of October.

The issue also features looks at three upcoming virtual conferences: ACerS 122nd Annual Meeting at MS&T20, Electronic Materials and Applications 2021, and the 45th International Conference and Exposition on Advanced Ceramics and Composites.

Finally, ACerS honors the life of Ted Day, former ACerS treasurer and CGIF chair. Day passed away on September 14, a few weeks shy of his 60th birthday.
