With warmer temperatures finally here to stay, now is the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors. Depending on where you live, you can take advantage of the spring weather to visit winners of this year’s Brick in Architecture Awards.

The Brick in Architecture Awards, sponsored by the Brick Industry Association since 1989, recognize exceptional uses of clay brick in architecture. Architectural and design firms can enter their designs in nine different categories:

  • Commercial
  • Education, K–12
  • Higher education (colleges, universities)
  • Historic renovation
  • International (project located outside of the U.S., Canada, or U.S. territory)
  • Residential, single family
  • Residential, multifamily
  • Paving and landscaping
  • NEW for 2022: Thin brick

An additional “Craftsmanship” award is given to one of the entries to recognize an individual mason or a team of masons “who skillfully install brick in an artful/unique way.” The Brick Industry Association chose 45 winning projects, with the Best in Class gold, silver, and bronze winners including projects in the United States, Australia, Canada, China, and Germany.

“Brick can create virtually anything as an inherently sustainable material with limitless design options, superior durability, fire resistance, and energy savings,” says Ray Leonhard, president and CEO of the Brick Industry Association, in a press release.
